The Things that Flew By You...

Opi has a girlfriend, and he's so proud of that fact.

I came home last Friday to his excited exclaim "Mummy, Opi dah ada girlfriend!" And he told that to almost everyone he met over the weekend, his Nenek, Atok, Mak Dik, Mak Na, Pak Su, Pak Jim, Mak, Aboy, Ninie....everyone.

So yes..my 7-old son has a girlfriend. A girl whom he doesn't know her name, yet. All he knows - she's in her Year 3, wears tudung and very fair. Fairer than Isya, he says. Fairer than Ijie as well. Now...she must be very, very fair. Because Ijie has got to be the fairest baby I've known.

Today, he asked me for an additional 50 cents to bring to school. He wants to give it to his girlfriend. Husband, as much as he thinks the whole thing is ridiculous, obliged.

I'm actually pretty excited to know what happen today.

Weekend came and went very quickly.

Opi and Isya 'balik kampung'. An occasion that both of them truly enjoy and cherish. There, they receive all the pamperings, attention and of course, loads and loads of things to eat!

And much to their excitement, my sis, Dodik or their Mak Dik also came back for the weekend before going off to Johannesberg. So Isya fitted herself right in. My version of Charlie's Angels - Dodik, Pona and Isya. Isya maybe just two but she loves all the slightly-more-adult 'girlie' stuffs like pretty dresses and makeup. Last night she insisted on wearing a t'shirt which is a tad too tight, and afterwards she ran across the hall, swinging her head left and right. And she keeps repeating "Macam Mak Dik, kan?"

Then she put on loads of lotions onto her knees, arms, tummy..and her hair. I asked her,"You wanna be like you Mak Na ya?". Isya gave me one of her senyum malu.

She simply idolises her two aunts.

Children grow up so fast. Sometimes, I get upset when they learn new things when I'm not around. But is there any other choice? Maybe I shall plan for early retirement...say at 35?
