Isya is getting really bratty. She's 2 years old..with a vocabulary of a makcik. She nags, she 'melatah' and God..she can go on and on.
But lately, she is acting like a spoilt brat. She cries at every opportunity she gets, blaming the brother for everything. Whoever said, children don't lie...?? Isya can cry (with real tears) and point to her brother and said "Abang cubit Isya...." and I was sitting there all those while and witnessed first-hand that Opi didn't do anything to warrant that. So, I had to be this nice mother that you read ever so often in those self-help books.....
"Mana sakit, sayang?" (Note: the 'sayang' is on purpose to control my temper)
"Shini.." pointing to her arms
"Nanti Mummy marah abang, ok?"
"Ok"....and off she skipped away with a huge smile (Dennis the Menace) style...and her tears just dried up in no time. But that is not it. After a few seconds, she came back again with a frown.
"Tak dengar pun Mummy marah abang....." in her most reprimanding note.
I had to pretend scolding her brother so that I can have my peace and read my Women's Weekly, which I bought last week and still haven't finish.
Last night, she refused to sleep. I was tired..not from work but from swearing at the traffic jam. I tried so many known methods...telling her stories about teddy bears and balloons, rubbing her back, scrathing her tummy, massaged her head..to no avail.
All she wanted to do was to go into her brother's room, where Opi and Aboy were snoring away and simply, to disturb them. She doesn't play with them in daytime...she simply wants to...make them scream, I guess..??
So..at last...I smacked her arms. So that she would cry and doze off to la-la land.
It did the trick.
Then the Husband looked at me with 'the look'.
"Shouldn't do that with her....."
Sigh.........can't win them all.........

mummy, i'm sure you have heard of the terrible two's. my daughter just turned eight and yes, we did go thru what you are going thru now. there are no easy answers. patience, understanding and an eagle eye might help.
yes Dudae...plus a whole load of patience and ability to see things in a positive way.
two out of three ain't bad. you've got it, I mean a wife and a mummy, lets roll of the career. just switch off the light at let the two candle melt without strangers! soon, there ain't no way you let it be "Tom and Jerry"
