I remember an excerpt from my farewell note, before I left my previous company. “Putting me in IT was like dumping a kambing in the middle of the sea…”
Now, in Shell IT, I realize that was certainly an understatement of the century!
Maybe what Jim Bob said holds some truth “Adik saya ni tak pandai sangat” or Husband’s remarks when I pretended to doze-off when he was relating a technical explanation of something “..in your tiny brains, don’t you ever wonder how things work….” Or Pona’s twisted joke “you cannot buy 50…cos 50 is an odd-number” and I believed her!
To put it simply…I am a simple person. That’s why I failed my add maths! I cannot stand complicated things.
Why I’m now in IT is one of those complicated things. Let me relate an example. I just came out from a meeting with Getronics and HP about servers/storage. Most of the time, I mustered aha..aha..ehem..yes..aha..and rigorously jotting down any info I could understand. Then the unthinkable happened…..someone asked me a question “Can we do without the controller? The MSA equipment is an extension of the current server. So do we still need a controller?”
And I blinked..and I blinked…and I blinked again.
In my most intelligent tone, I looked at HP and said “You will obviously said that we need a controller, right?” They smiled and nodded. So I looked at Getronics and asked “Do you?” They shook their heads. “C’mon guys, we’re the client here. Can you come up with some sort of agreements?”
I let them discuss again. And I continued my aha…aha…hemmm.
What in the friggin’ hell is a controller to a server????!!!!!

~~Hmm, though you think that you are uncomplicated, others see you as some kind of goddess. You are now at a comfortable level plus people (women or gays) envy you like crazy because of your looks. Well, everybody in your family has the looks ;) hehe.. Don’t underestimate yourself mummy, even if you don’t have any idea what they were talking about, you certainly knew how to act accordingly..~~
